Senior Operations Systems Analyst
Alternate Title: Senior Systems Specialist, Energy Management Engineer
Senior Operations Systems Analyst

Senior Operations Systems Analysts play a key role in the design, installation, and implementation of all technical aspects of Building Automation Systems and are responsible for assessment and analysis of a building’s control system to ensure system optimization.

With a strong knowledge in HVAC mechanical and/or electrical systems, Senior Operations Systems Analysts work with project management and engineering teams to review job specifications and building automation system (BAS) design needs, often creating custom software programs, databases and graphics that are used with the BAS, at workstations and in website interfaces. Most Senior Operations Systems Analysts are involved with the project start-up, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of installed BAS controls and mechanical systems. They participate in the layout and coordination of network drops, IP addresses and monitoring tools with a customer's IT Department personnel and run semi-complex reports to analyze the BAS operation. As an analyst, their goal is to ensure a building's automation system is being fully optimized. They typically work with the information technology (IT) departments of companies and are responsible for installing new software, performing system upgrades, and monitoring these systems for efficiency.

Building automation is the automatic centralized control of a building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting and other systems through a building management system or building automation system.
