Mostly an inside sales position, Sales & Marketing Associates support current customer accounts, ensure purchase orders are shipped and received, develop a new customer base, and analyze sales trends on current and new customers while providing excellent customer service.
HVAC/R Sales & Marketing Associates tend to work in the office and could be part of a larger sales force team, serving current customers and building new customer relationships. The Sales Associates spend time reviewing blueprints, generating material lists and providing cost estimates and proposals for customers, vendors and sub-contractors. Associates often make suggestions and recommendations about equipment based on customer needs, and ensure all equipment and materials are delivered in a timely manner. The Sales Associate will spend a good portion of their day communicating with existing customers for future sales and cold-calling new customers to generate additional sales.
While the Sales & Marketing Associate is combined into one position in this career map, depending on its size some companies separate the job duties and functions into a Sales Associate and a Marketing Associate. The Sales Associate would have more HVAC/R knowledge and sales experience, while the Marketing Associate would have a greater understanding of advertising and promoting the company.
