Controls Installers assist with the installation of conduit, wire, cable, equipment, components and devices associated with energy management systems including electric/electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and components.
Controls Installers complete installations of controls components following the scope and/or the job submittals, and often work for sub-contractors who specialize in the installation of Building Automation Systems (BAS) systems. Building automation is the automatic centralized control of a building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting and other systems through a building management system or building automation system.
Controls Installers interact with customers, BAS Technicians, and warehouse and other staff. Controls Installers usually advance to a BAS Trainee, or depending on experience and technical knowledge, advance to a BAS Technician position. Their work is mostly indoors and sometimes working in small spaces. Controls Installers must demonstrate strong attention to detail due to the sophistication and sensitivity of the controls equipment being installed.
